Cool
These are really cool, I have been trying to think of ways to get my 2 1/2 year old to eat more vegetables and the creative plates and spoons might be the trick, and here was my original idea(:

These are great!!!
They're going on my Christmas list! :) I love these... then again I'm a lady who insisted on having an umbrella with a lady holding and umbrella on it. :)
These are wonderfully inventive and a breath of fresh air from the mundane things we use in day to day life.
Absolutely wonderful!
It'd be nice if our culture
It'd be nice if our culture wasn't so ridiculously wasteful, but we are and it's unlikely that we'll develop into a culture that values making and KEEPING quality items for generations. For instance, all of us here has a computer, and it's probably not the first NOR the last you'll have even if it works and does everything you need it to do. May be the same with many items in your life. Some of us here work at manufacturing or in some manner associated with bringing products to the consuming public. If we lived in some half baked idea of an ideal less wasteful society, it would likely necessitate some cutting back.
In a way, the current economic crisis might be the perfect time to contract society and get rid of the wasteful mannerisms we have come to believe is our birth-duty.
the problem with that is that
the problem with that is that by cutting the "waste", there would more than likely be a greater cut in employment, referring to the ratio of products a company sells v. the company's active employees. so be the shit too deep to walk through. :(
I think your designs are
I think your designs are really great. I can't believe some of the comments you have got from a couple of numbnuts.
i love quirky things that make me smile and are clever and very usable at the same time. keep up the good work.
I agree with the anonymous
I agree with the anonymous guy, and yeah I agree they brighten up life but we can't really go on with the flawed system we have in place for much longer. People being too ignorant to what the planet can cope with and only after their own material gains will get a shock sooner or later.
reply
planning on throwing a dinner party soon? want some novelties to entertain your guests while you pummel through your tired old stories one more time?
these products, while quirky and "clever", are kitchy pieces of shit made by designers with no skill, and little creativity.
any money construction is ridiculously cheap too so they can hike their design price. fred & friends? you're dickheads.
Waste?
While philosophically I agree with Anonymous about the whole junk/capitalism/waste issue, I have to ask, what has said Anonymous done to help solve the world problems??
You are the "Waste"
You shouldn't start a sentence with, "While philosophically I agree with Anonymous..." because you sound pretentious.
You shouldn't start a
You shouldn't start a sentence with, "While philosophically I agree with Anonymous..." because you sound like a pretentious prick. What have you done to solve the world's problems besides defend all of this plastic waste?
very creative
my favourites are the unzipped, and the french toast. but all are such fun items :))
You're probably right but
You're probably right but there's not much you can do with no power like Obama.
What a waste of the Earth's blood
Not a single one of these products is worth the material they are made of. Not a single one of these products makes the job easier or faster in anyway. This is all just kitchy junk that some puke made a buck on and will be in a landfill for many years. This page is a testament to capitalism. Yes I will admit the ideas themselves are charming, but in reality just a waste. I suspect over 80% of the population works to create junk or provide junk services. Isn't it about time we worked TOGETHER not AGAINST each other, you know like sesame street CO-OPERATION not COMPETITION. (buy the way how many USA soldiers had to die to bring you the oil in these products?)
Well I sure hope a lot of
Well I sure hope a lot of them... now that's value
Oh yeah
You should probably go to some "communist" country like China or North Korea. I'm sure your philosophy on only having the stuff you need will go down really well with the government as they work you retarded.

Uh huh
Please shut up with the whole "everything in modern society is so messed up". Art and creativity is essential to the spirit of our species. It's all well and good if you want to go live in a mud hut somewhere, but there are people out there who appreciate this stuff.
Troll is successful.

I agree
Take a look at www.ted.com
you have issues.
no offence, but think about it: if every single thing in the world only existed for practicality, how boring would life be? everything would be grey and dull. These people have used their imaginations to brighten up our lives and make us all a bit more lighthearted. If everyone spent all their time worrying about the trajedy and pain in the world, we would all need an amazing psychiatrist. Please, cheer up, smile a bit? xx
Ever think that maybe these
Ever think that maybe these things are just for fun and/or decoration? Do you put pictures up and paint your walls? How about the clothes you wear and the car you drive? I'm sure they're just potato sacks and a metal box that moves, eh?
Art
Well, we might as well just get rid of all art all together. You really don't "need" artistic things such as paintings, comics, this webpage, etc. We can live our lives like robots and just what we need. Creative things like this just make life a little less dull.
settle down, captain. no need
settle down, captain. no need for overreacting to these little inventions. maybe your anger would be more effective if it were directed towards more serious subject matter.
you sir, are an idiot =)
you sir, are an idiot =) enjoy your hand
ugh
it's people like you that make this country so fugly.
you're the reason the world is filled industrial "design", cinder-block buildings and beige everything.
you suck.
dude seriously?
this page was all about providing fun and clever ideas and just showing off some cool stuff until you came along and tried to create a contoversy...try and look at things in a different way, it's not like the person who made the page is trying to sell this stuff...

okay, you just ruined it for
okay, you just ruined it for me. I agree one hundred percent with you and I was just thinking how adorable they all are. I don't know if I am thankful or irritated.
wow you need to chill out,
wow you need to chill out, maybe you'll be more happy in a communist country
Goodness!
You need to cool down or your blood pressure won't allow you to live much longer much less worry about our landfills.
Wow!
Re: What a waste of the Earth's blood
LOL!
WOW! ever heard of anger
WOW!
ever heard of anger management?
Oh dear, I bet you're a
Oh dear, I bet you're a vegetarian aswell...
What.
... I have no idea what the hell you're trying to argue about.
Apparently creativity equals capitalism? Huh. Interesting. 80% of the entire population strives on creating junk? I thought 80% of the population would be more focused on trying to keep a job and provide for their family.
Before you try to troll around the internet, get some honest facts that can be backed up with a true source, not just random drivel that leaks out of your thick skull. Idiot.
I like the products Fred produces. They're different, they're pretty awesome, they're a conversation piece. If I drank beer, I would buy those mugs, but I guess I could still use them for my Cokes...
To an extent
While I agree that almost all of this is absolute crap I will say that I, as a born and bred capitalist, find no problem in innovation simply in design. Obviously people would like candy bowls that look like an unusually thick ziplock bag or salad tossers that look like garden tools or these things wouldn't sell. Personally, I don't like them and would never buy them but is there any reason why my decision on how something should or should not look should hold sway over whether a product is successful? No.
Now, where I will out-rightly agree with you is that they're a waste of resources (most of them), seeing as they require more to make than most of their counterparts without, as you said, making the job any easier or better in any way. In the case of those items, simply don't buy. Sure, someone most likely will and it might be able to keep the maker afloat but hopefully not to the point that he'll continue that line of crap very long.
As for co-operation not competition, advancements are made via friendly competition or (at risk of sounding like a fascist) full on war. I find that the friendly competition is preferable but nothing comes out of absolute peace (or what does tends to be this crap that isn't inspired by any will other than to make money). Give the artisans a reason to produce better things and someone will. People might get left behind but that is progress. What the winners decide to do with their earnings (help others, help themselves, make even more inventions, etc.) is another matter entirely. But you'll notice that communist states don't excel past necessity unless threatened (hence raising the necessity level so really they never go past need) whereas capitalist states excel for the sake of excellence.
Response to what a waste...
Question : How may USA soldiers had to die to bring you the oil in these products ?
Answer : None if your government didn't insist on waging war.

so would you say art is
so would you say art is useless and a waste of the paper and oil products it often requires? many things in human life are not necessary, but simply a little fun.
